Dear Steven

By Remy Benoit

I received your letter tonight and tried to answer through the e-mail address you sent. However, it came back through the mail administrator.  So I am hoping that you see this.
Here is my response to your letter.
Dear Steven,

Thank you so much for your letter.
I am pleased to hear that you are studying the Vietnam War. More and more schools and colleges are including the history and literature of  the Vietnam War in their courses. The Veterans of that engagement are very pleased to see that.  It truly means a lot to them as many of them are still trying to find "the place in history" of their war.

Steven, how would you feel about my posting your letter at the site? I know how very much it would mean to the Veterans. Please let me know if that would be okay with you.

If you like, you may tell your teacher that I would be happy  to post some student papers at the site. I was a history teacher for a long time and believe that we should be listening to what the young people feel and think. If she/he would be interested in that, please have her/him e-mail me and we can work out something.

If you have some friends who are interested in writing, I have a "Guest" section at my home page:

just send them along.

It is your world that is being built today. I believe that your generation should have a great deal of input.

Thank you again for writing.

Be peace,

(Ms.) Remy Benoit
