One Woman


It is an election year.

Election years are time for introspection; for examining who we are, and what we stand for.

The news is ulcer producing.

The air is filled with accusation.

We are busy trying to keep our lives in order, pay the bills, get the kids where they need to go.

But that is one of the questions of any election year - Where do we need to go and who will we be when we get there?

The letter that follows was published initially in The Nation Magazine. March of 2003. Much has happened since then. Much will happen in the next few days.
