OP ED LA Times:Afghanistan war: When 'friends' attack, who can you trust?

By Remy Benoit

Afghanistan war: When 'friends' attack, who can you trust?.

We put our soldiers in untenable positions and wonder why things happen. We need to build bridges to communication, not drone on with destruction. Is there a will to democracy in country? Are there traditions that need to evolve on their own? What is our objective in country? What exactly have we achieved to date that warrants such an expenditure of life, and money?
How can we speak of sexual equality there when the incumbent majority here is out and out at war with our women?
