55,000 Homeless Women Vets

By Remy Benoit

Shame on us that any veteran is homeless; the women soldiers who are raped by their comrades in arms are told to forget it for the welfare of the group. What kind of world are we making? It is a disgrace for anyone, anywhere to be homeless or hungry in such an abundant world. How much are we responsible on an individual basis for what is done? The people of the world have the same things in common: need for shelter, food, clothing, and love. How much energy do we give to the opposites of that? How much power do we give to so few for their own self-concern? How many jobs have been outsourced at slave wages, without controls and safeguards? We allow that. We have to choose more compassionately, more intelligently. Everyone, everywhere, should have health care. That is a basic of human dignity.
