—"The best works by living writers on the heart of New Orleans." Miz' Remy is the author of Annie.
I graduated from West Point with the Class of 1968. My combat action spanned a short period from July through August 5, 1969, when I was shot in the elbow and medivaced to Japan. So while I was not in combat over a holiday period, I can pass on what gave me comfort in that environment.
I am a strong Christian and believe what God has promised in the Bible when he said he would never leave us nor forsake us.
Thus I found comfort in knowing that no matter what situation I found myself in, I would never be alone. And if something happened to me, I would be going to a better place. There is much comfort in knowing who is in charge and knowing that my future was secure.
As Christians, we are never alone. The presence of comrades is important, but not always possible. God is always there.
Happy Thanksgiving and Merry Christmas.

Rhea and Jordan Devereaux had it all: undying devotion, a tender love, and a grand passion. And then the Vietnam War separated them. Follow the course of their love across time and space. Journey with them through the steaming jungle; dance with the Mardi Gras revelers while revolution unseats Louis XVI and protestors on the Washington Mall scream, Hell, NO. We won't Go. Sail with Laffite's pirates into Devil's Isle and rejoice as an unconditional and timeless love emerges victorious.
