From Kathy Dobie at GQ: The Long Shadow of War

By Remy Benoit

A Must Read and please do pass it along.

Kathy Dobie -The Long Shadow of War.

Stand up for these Veterans - we need a national dialogue and we need it to start now - perhaps a National Teach In run by Veterans to launch it - Vets all over the country - on podiums, in parades, in schools, at picnic tables - anywhere and everywhere telling it like it was, and is. It might help to bridge the gap between the military and the civilians. It might even help to mend the separation between Vets of different wars - Vets who were/are not there for other Vets.

Vets perhaps getting petitions signed by the general population saying Wounded warriors need care - we demand that now

and sending them on to the people in D.C. who are not listening -

THEY ARE US AND WE DEMAND THEIR CARE.

Why not launch something like this Memorial Day Weekend?

Who will stand up for what they/you need?

Will you? Why do we refuse to face what war does to those we send to fight it? We must be there for them when they come home - not just yellow ribbons on cars - being there, helping, demanding proper treatment.
