To announce that there must be no criticism of the President, or that we are to stand by the President, right or wrong, is not only unpatriotic and servile, but it's morally treasonable to the American public."

Theodore Roosevelt

From Christopher Bauchli at Common Dreams A Column for the Masses. One of the comments to this article mentions the Church 'burning women of wisdom.' Take a walk Down History Lane with me for one of the most despicable documents ever perpetrated on women - "The Witches' Hammer" - Malleus Maleficarum of Heinrich Kramer and James Sprenger. There is all kinds of cruelty in the world - the most dangerous is cruelty with intent and institutionalized. Then there is personal cruelty; someone reaching for power through someone else's pain. We expect compassion from religious leaders - we often get the opposite; bias, bigotry, and intolerance. Another person who comments on the above article mentions that the Pope was in opposition to attacking Iraq and asks what might have happened if he had taken himself to Baghdad and taken up residence there. Would Mr. Bush have bombed the Pope? Would Papal action, at a very personal level, have made a difference? Again, again, again - where are the real statesman - where have all the real leaders gone? Or, were there ever really any? Your comments are welcome.

Including an old song here by a favorite of mine - Conway Twitty - Join me at You Tube for This Time I've Hurt Her More Than She Loves Me. How many does this song speak to at a relationship level; at a treatment of the soul, the earth, level? This man, this truly, uniquely, American jewel, says it so amazingly well Willie Nelson You were always on my mind. Get to those little things - do them today - at a personal level - at a global level - and watch the results of all those fluttering butterfly wings of change.

The Universe is breathtakingly diverse - why then do we wish all who dwell hereon to conform? Why do we relentlessly seek power over when power with holds our salvation as a planet?

Just a few thoughts for Sunday.
