Where are the Welcoming Roses?

By Remy Benoit

From CNN Thousands join anti-U.S. march marking Baghdad's fall.

From The Washington Post, Sudarsan Raghavan, and MSNBC Four years after Saddam’s fall, regret in Iraq
Harley-Davidson fan who helped topple statue wants old order back.

From the AP and CNN Taliban behead Afghan translator.

From the AP and MSNBC Ahmadinejad: Iran expanding nuclear process
Defiant president says country can make nuclear fuel on ‘industrial scale.

There seems to be a serious lack of communication, understanding, and diplomacy in all these situations. In the case of Iran, while the President here wants to build new nucs, he is telling these people they can't have any. Perhaps democracy would 'spread' in a more positive way if it was done by example; by leaving room for 'saving face'.

From ABC News, Brian Ross and Christopher Isham ABC News Exclusive: The Secret War Against Iran.

All these actions, which are not new, give more and more import to Mr. Wilson's ideal - 'open covenants, openly arrived at.' Is that really too much to ask when the lives of our young, all over the world, are the price we pay for duplicity?
