Tying the Present to the Past?

By Remy Benoit

When young people say to me that they wish they could have lived through the Sixties, I tell them that perhaps they might want to rethink that idea.

There is the old saying 'If you remember the Sixties, you weren't there.' Cute, but not accurate.

Don Hazen of AlterNet has an essay Bring the Sixties Out of the Closet. that raises some questions, makes some assertions. Some of them are interesting, some I do not personally agree with, but I wanted to bring both Mr. Hazen's Essay and the responses to it to your attention. Don't miss reading the responses as there are some very good points made in them.

For those of you for whom the term "The Sixties" means nothing, well, take a walk Down History Lane with McMaster University United States Sixties History.

or Sixties City.

I would like to hear your responses to the ideas raised in Mr. Hazen's essay and its commentary. You may send them by clicking on Feedback, or upload at The Niquahanam Project: Help to Heal the World.
