'Tis the Season for Soul Consciousness

By Remy Benoit

For most of our time on earth human lives were not geared to the Tyrant Timepiece.
Lives moved in tune with the seasons, with  religious festivals.
Lives revolved around the rising and the setting of the sun;  around the waxing and waning of the moon; around the ebbing and flowing of the tides.
The Pharaoh in Egypt wore a double crown, but the flooding and receding of the Nile governed the emergence of a civilization.

It is the 8th day of the 21th month. The new year awaits us.
Hanukkah and Ramadan have just ended.

   Christmas is coming.

How many of you are already feeling the stress of the holidays?
How many of you are feeling stressed by the question: What are you doing News Year's Eve? as if upon your answer to that  question rested the whole of your social identity and acceptance?

How many of you are feeling the stress of the Tyrant Timepiece?

Metaphorically speaking, can I help you back into the more gentle arms of the Lady Earth?

How many of you will notice the winter solstice on the 22nd and be aware that the Mother whose firm terra you walk on knowns the need of the earth to rest?

How many of you will grant a time of rest to yourself? I too am guilty of that one, but taking steps to correct it.

Can you relive the stress of corporate alienation on the job by making your work space just a tiny bit homey? Can you place a tiny stone, a picture of a loved one, or of a favorite place on your desk? Can you humanize your environment there? Those tiny steps take power from the Tyrant Timepiece.

A friend of mine this morning said that the "rational" bread and butter job was devouring his creative soul. I know the feeling, as I am sure many of you do too. But again, the choice is ours. Render unto creativity the nourishment it needs.  If you are stuck in a rational abyss, do put Matthew Fox's,Creativity: Where the Divine and the Human Meet on your wish list. It is a small book, just about big enough for your hand, but it is flowing with ideas to water your  creative soul.

Creativity.

I offer you a holiday gift. From today through New Year's Day I shall place here a quote, a tie with someone else, to help you reach out to the you who is meant to be. Whatever time you choose to alot to it, be it in thought, or on paper, or in prayer, is your choice. But do come to play with it - share in the journey of another who too learned how to wage peace against the Tyrant Timepeace and learned to accept the gentle natural arms of Mother Nature.

We shall start with one of my favorite myth chroniclers. We lost a sweet thinking man with his passing but thanks to Mr. Guttenberg, we have Mr. Campbell's Hero's Journey to walk in our own way, on our own path.

"If you follow your bliss, you put yourself on a kind of  track,  which has been there all the while waiting for you,and the life that you ought to be living is the one you are living."

No matter where you are on your path, I also highly recommend
Laurence G. Boldt's,ZEN and the Art of Making a Living. What Creativity will do for your soul, this book will do for paving your path.
ZEN.

With prayers for us all, for indeed, we are all One, may the angels watch over you,
   Happy Holidays,
   Remy
